We start with a 15 mile off-road journey down
miles of beach and sand trail by 4WD vehicle. We'll view a multitude
of shore birds and see the Outer Banks as it was in days gone by
- while discussing Outer Banks ecology, history, and local legend.
We'll
visit Penny's Hill (2nd largest sand dune on the East Coast),
the petrified
forest, and the century old Lifesaving Station. Upon reaching the
Wild Horse Sanctuary, which is our private 70 acre Spanish Mustang
reserve and put-in point near the
Virginia border, you will experience a guided paddling tour by kayak thru the
pristene shallow waterways in this isolated and wildlife rich area. Limiting
our tour times and the number of kayaks keeps these esturines alive with
nature. This is wild horse country and we always see them from the vehicle
and on many occasions we've paddled right up to them.
